Adobe is going to scrap their hard copies (disks) for their software (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Flash), and have you pay a subscription for the latest software called the Adobe Creative Cloud. $50 per month. Could you really afford such an expense in the long run?

This is really disturbing. Please hear what he has to say, it really is a serious situation for working artists. Pass this along so others may know about the Adobe Creative Cloud and how horrible it is.

Yep… Just went to see how much Flash costs. You know, to just buy the program? Guess what? After spending a while looking, it appears that you CAN’T anymore. You have to pay an outrageous subscription fee. I hate adobe. Is there a petition going around to stop this nonsense? Because I want to sign it.

Today I just signed the petition in the voice against the Adobe Creative Cloud. For those who are not familiar with what the new Creative Cloud can do to you as an artist, I really suggest you watch this video.

For those who have seen, reblogged, faved, here’s the link (as shown in the previous reblog) to sign the petition. Anything can happen, Adobe really needs to know that many artists are not supportive of them controlling not just the software..but the content worked on the Cloud.

Signed! Boosting the signal, I prefer to be able to buy my software.

I’m not going to fucking SUBSCRIBE to Photoshop. What the fuck do you expect me to tell people, “sorry, can’t do your commission this month. Couldn’t afford the Photoshop rent”?

This is why I use Corel Painter :|b So few people seem to and I don’t understand why. It’s so much cheaper, super versatile, and doesn’t have this bullshit surrounding it :/

some kium bear sketches and doodles. Did these after listening to John Webber, a professor at SCAD, talk about how he worked on Brother Bear doing some rough animations. He showed us a few :) anyway, I was thinking about making Kium a bear before, I wanted something medieval friendly because I loooooove medieval fantasy and bears are pretty bad ass. Black bears can climb but I couldn’t see myself as one, so here’s grizzly. Sorry for the pitiful scan.

Today I was just really down. I haven’t been able to shake off that feeling. I’m just, god dammit I’m losing myself. I hope this blows over soon.

In the meantime my life drawing final is a full size self portrait. I’ll probably present WIPs. I’m working on a 6 foot by 4 foot paper, fun. So that’s my life in a nutshell.

I was watching How I Met Your Mother (love that show) when I was saving the file. I wasn’t really paying attention and accidentally named it TedMosby.psd instead of Cylavis.psd.

Anyway. Here’s my old cougar character, Cylavis. I actually name a cute little cougar kitten plushie on my bed that I named after him. Changed around his design a bit. See his old reference sheet (also see how much I’ve changed):

First time using Silverpoint. Longpose from Life Drawing class. It’s great for hatching but I feel like I want to still play around with it a bit. Silverpoint is literally drawing with a stick of silver. You make a point using sandpaper and then draw on gesso board. Yup. There’s some mistakes on here though, like her head is little too big and the feet are small. Oh well.

Lately I’ve been feeling like I’ve been going into a different direction with my art than I wanted to. I’ve been looking back at my old artwork and idols that inspired me and I’ve strayed. I’m not sure where I’m going now, but I think before I accept commissions in June I want to adventure back on my old roots and check out what’s been making me feel like this. I want to say my artwork has become too “furry influenced” it’s not a bad thing, but it’s not where I originally wanted to be. I guess that’s it for now.
